Description
On f. 18v (not pictured) it reads: "A verry tratoroos Worke pretended to bee the answers to Peyres Plowman to the prynted interrogatores of alleageaunce. Butt in treuthe a Waye to instruct papists how to answer tratorooslye & defende the trators for Martyrs that dyed at Tyburne in August 1582." This passage refers to the period of time after the Reformation during which Catholics, or "Papists," were persecuted for defending their faith. While not a medieval reference, the passage does demonstrate how prevalent and ominous Tyburn became as an execution site.
