This manuscript depicts Mary at the foot of the cross where Jesus was crucified. She is seen with a brooch fastening her cloak together. From BL, Additional Ms 50001, f. 22

Brooch made out of iron with a copper-alloy shield attached which bears the coat of arms of the Earls of Lancaster. The brooch is an "M" or "B" shape depending on how the shield is turned.
